Approval for the Town to Co-Sponsor the Third Annual Water Conservation Poster Contest for the Villages Elementary School Students with the FGUA
Summary
The members of the Town Water Conservation Committee wish to co- sponsor the Third Annual Water Conservation Poster Contest with FGUA for the Villages Elementary School students. MaryAnn Krisovitch, the Town’s contracted Water Resource Coordinator, and Michelle Harris, FGUA Representative, have coordinated with the Villages Elementary School teachers for another Annual W.C. Poster Contest for grades 1, 2, and 3. The Town and FGUA will fund equal amounts for the art supplies. Prizes will be coordinated through donations and funds from the Utilities Water Conservation Promotional Ad Campaign budget. Students with winning entries will be invited to the Town Commission meeting in April, which coincides with Water Conservation Month.
Below is the proposed Water Conservation Poster Contest Schedule based on Town approval:
Week of January 15 — Villages Elementary 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade Art Teacher is notified that contest is approved and can now begin. Art teacher will need a full month to rotate the students through the art class and complete the project as she only sees them once a week.
By February 1 — FGUA and Town purchase up to $100 each in supplies and delivered to Villages Elementary of Lady Lake Art Teacher Ms. Hwang. Amount spent last year was much less than the approved $100 due to generous donations by art supply companies.
March 1 — Art teacher provides top ten entries in grades 1, 2, and 3 to Town for judging.
Week of March 5 —Judging Committee meets at Town Hall to select winners – Date and time to be determined by committee
By March 15 — FGUA, Town and NPDES contractor provide prizes through donations for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places in each of the three grade levels
Week of March 12 — Winning entries are notified and invited to Town Commission meeting on April 2 in time for celebration of April as Water Conservation month
April 2 — Winners are acknowledged at Town Commission meeting to celebrate Water Conservation Month.
