Consideration of Approval to Enter Into a Mutual Agreement with Danella Construction to Provide Fiber Optic Infrastructure Services at Multiple Town of Lady Lake Locations
Department
Information Technology and Town Manager
Staff Recommended Motion
Approval to authorize the Town Manager to sign a mutual agreement with Danella Construction to provide fiber optic infrastructure services at multiple town locations.
Summary
Staff recommends installing fiber optic conduit between the Town Hall server room and multiple locations within the Fuel Depot area immediately behind Town Hall. A small count fiber optic cable is recommended within one of these conduits to provide connectivity to a camera location and a lift station location. Future connectivity will be provided for the Fuel Depot dispensing and access control systems.
Staff also recommends installing fiber optic conduit between the Library communications room and the Community Building, continuing to the Guava Street Concession building and further to an area near the Water Tower for Well Site 1. This conduit will be used eventually to provide Wide Area Network (WAN) connectivity for these properties.
WAN connectivity at these properties will allow for improved Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) operation, for real-time monitoring of security cameras, and timely access to archived camera footage by the Police Department.
Staff recommends “piggy-backing” on the City of Cocoa, Florida, Contract #P-18-04-COC with Danella Construction to provide these services. Staff solicited competitive quotes from three service providers. Danella Construction provided the lowest cost quote. Mr. Schroth has reviewed and approved the language of the proposed mutual agreement and contract. The cost for this project has been included in the 2019 budget.
