Approval of the recommended revisions to the Procurement Manual regarding purchasing policies and procedures.

Summary

The auditor has recommended revisions to our Procurement Manual. Upon reviewing the policies, I found the numbers low compared to other municipalities. The revisions would change the following:

  • Requirement for formal bid from $5,000 to $20,000.
  • Requirement for three verbal quotes from $1,000 up to $10,000.
  • Requirement for three written quotes from $10,001 to $19,999.

This revised manual also designates the Town Manager as Purchasing Manager rather than the Town Clerk.
