Commission Meeting Agenda Item

The Parks and Recreation Department is seeking permission to host Blues in the Park on September 24^th. The cost of this event to cover bands, bounce houses and awards for the corn-hole tournament will be around $3,500.00.   Initially I budgeted $1,500.00 to hire two bands on two separate occasions.  I also budgeted $1,000.00 for Museum Night.  We would make this the Museum Night Event.   I am proposing to use the initial $1,500.00 for the bands, the $1,000.00 for Museum Night and the surplus of where I came in under on my events to make up the difference.  After the Easter Egg Hunt I should have around $7,000.00 in my Promotional Events Line Item.  Even with investing the $3,500.00, I should finish up the year with $3,500.00 for the year in this line item.  I am looking too hire Packrat’s Smokehouse out of New Smyrna Beach.  They are a very well know Blues Band that will cost us $2,500.00 and am considering hiring Bobby Blackmon as an opening act.  If I hire Beautiful Bobby Blackmon, his performance will run us around $400.00.  In addition to the bands, we are looking at having a corn hole tournament, museum scavenger hunt and bounce houses.  We will have a Bar B Q truck and I am looking to have a vendor that will serve beer and wine.
