In the budget of Fiscal Year 2021-22, the Town allocated $285,000 for the design of a new Growth Management Building which was to be constructed adjacent to Town Hall. As a result of other Town projects coming in at much higher costs than originally anticipated, staff looked at other alternatives to provide space for a larger Growth Management office. Upon consideration of the fact that much of the second floor of the Lady Lake Library is underutilized at the present time, the decision was made to forego construction of a new building, and to move Growth Management into the vacant library space. Following that decision, it was later decided that Growth Management would occupy what is currently the Children’s Library, and that the Children’s Library would be moved to the second floor.

Judd Dickerson of Dickerson Architects, Inc., one of the Town’s contracted continuing service providers, submitted a proposal on Wednesday, July 27, 2022, for professional architectural and engineering services for the interior renovations and additions to the library. Although each task is not fully defined, Mr. Dickerson has outlined a twelve-task process to complete the design of the library. As a result of all tasks not being fully defined, the estimated cost is likely to increase from the current figure of $171,018. The budgeted amount for the design and engineering services for the new Growth Management building was $285,000, and that amount is available in in the Fiscal Year 2021-22 budget. At this time, staff is requesting that the proposed contract be awarded to Dickerson Architects, Inc. so that the architectural and engineering design services can commence immediately with the funds allocated in this fiscal year’s budget.
