Accepting Application for Volunteer Boards and Committees

The Town of Lady Lake is accepting applications for current vacancies on the following volunteer boards and committees:

NOTE: Applicants must be residents living within the town limits of Lady Lake.

LIBRARY ADVISORY BOARD: The Lady Lake Library Board is an advisory board that regulates and encourages organized activities of the library system operated by the Town. This board meets on the second Thursday of the month at 4 p.m.

PARKS, RECREATION AND TREE ADVISORY COMMITTEE: The purpose of the Lady Lake Parks, Recreation and Tree Advisory Committee is to advise the Parks and Recreation Department of needed recreation and beautification projects in the Town’s parks and green areas; to identify and formulate programs to promote the beautification in the Town through the planting of new trees and the protection of existing trees; and to assist with the formulation of a comprehensive tree plan for the Town of Lady Lake. This committee meets on the second Wednesday of the month at 5:30 p.m.

PLANNING AND ZONING BOARD: The volunteer members of the Planning and Zoning Board are responsible for reviewing comprehensive planning policies and specific development applications as required by the Town’s Land Development Regulations and provide recommendations to the Town Commission on planning and land development related matters. Members must be a resident of the Town of Lady Lake. This board meets on the second Monday of the month at 5:30 p.m. Board members are required to file financial disclosure forms. Background Required: Membership shall, whenever possible, include an architect, a business person, an engineer, a general contractor or subcontractor and a realtor or have similar or related experience.

The Town of Lady Lake is also accepting applications for the following volunteer boards and committees in case of future vacancies:

DISCIPLINARY ARBITRATION PANEL (DAP) for the Lady Lake Police Department: Whenever possible, the applicants shall have had experience in labor relations, human resources, personnel management, or similar related experience. A DAP member must be willing to attend training. Members volunteering for the DAP must have been a citizen of the Town for at least one full calendar year prior to their application and must maintain residency within the Town limits throughout the duration of a three-year appointment term. A DAP Member must be at least 21 years of age and cannot have a criminal record; must be able to pass the FDLE criminal background check. A DAP member cannot be related to a Town of Lady Lake employee; and cannot be a current or former employee or current or past Commissioner of Lady Lake. The Police Benevolent Association (PBA) approves the memberships. This board meets on an as-needed basis.

POLICE PENSION BOARD: This board is designated as the plan administrator of the police pension plan. Each board member is required to attend training regarding Trustee duties and responsibilities and matters relating to the investment program of the plan. This training is provided by the Police Pension. The board meets quarterly each year (March, June, September and December) on the second Wednesday of the month at 1:30 p.m. Board members are required to file financial disclosure forms.
