Parks, Recreation, and Trees Advisory Committee Meeting
The Parks, Recreation and Tree Board Advisory Committee meeting was held in the Town Hall Commission Chambers at 409 Fennell Blvd., Lady Lake, Florida. The meeting convened at 5:30 p.m.
A. Roll Call
Fred Weber, Member; Doris Turlo, Member; Betty Cantelmo, Member; Vice Chairperson/Member Chryle Lowery; and Chairperson/Member Dr. Richard Jones
STAFF PRESENT
Mike Burske, Parks and Recreation Director; and Carol Osborne, Deputy Town Clerk
B. Public Comment
Chairperson Jones asked if there were any public comments. There were no comments.
C. New Business
1. Approval of Minutes
Member Lowery moved to approve the minutes of the March 9, 2022, Parks, Recreation and Tree Advisory Committee meeting. Member Turlo seconded. The motion passed by an all-in-favor vote of 5 to 0.
2. Consideration to send a Recommendation to the Commission to Negotiate the Lowest Price and Accept Gibbs and Register as the Contractor for the Old Dixie Highway Park Project (Mike Burske)
Parks and Recreation Director Mike Burske presented the background summary for this agenda item (on file in the Clerk’s Office).
Mr. Burske stated that he contacted the contractor after reviewing the bid. He advised that there is a portion of the project that could be eliminated to save some money. However, after discussing it with the contractor, he chose to keep the project intact and as bid.
Member Jones stated that Mr. Burske did an excellent job with the project.
Member Lowery asked for clarification regarding government bids.
Mr. Burske explained that historically government projects are not as profitable for contractors as private sector projects. He stated that he researched Gibbs and Register and found that they have completed many government projects and are a very reputable company.
Member Lowery moved to forward the recommendation of approval to the Commission to Negotiate the Lowest Price and Accept Gibbs and Register as the Contractor for the Old Dixie Highway Park Project. Member Cantelmo seconded. The motion passed by an all-in-favor vote of 5 to 0.
D. STAFF REPORT
Mr. Burske stated the Lady Lake Easter Egg Hunt was held April 9 and was well-attended. He noted that Member Turlo helped at the Lions Club Pancake Breakfast, and Member Weber assisted at the entrance to the park.
He stated that the Macaroni and Cheese Festival was an enormous success. More than 1200 people attended.
A new event, Music in the Park/Blues evening will be held September 24, 2022, at Rolling Acres Sports Complex, with Bobby Blackman and the Pack Rats performing.
E. Chairperson and Members' Report
Member Weber stated that the new signs reading No Pets Allowed, at the Rolling Acres Sports Complex, have made a positive impact.
Member Lowery agreed.

With no further business to discuss, the meeting adjourned at 5:41 p.m.
