Church at the Springs – Conditional Use Permit (CUP) Proposal – To allow for the placement of two RV Trailers in front of the Children's Ministry Building for a period of up to 12 months to allow space for the kid’s ministry area during construction of their new building, located at 1055 Teague Trail, and the northeast corner of County Road 25 and Hood Avenue, on a 1.11-acre parcel zoned light commercial, owned by the Church at the Springs, Inc., and identified by alternate key 1449588. (Wendy Then)

Senior Planner Then presented the background of the Conditional Use Permit proposal. Church at the Springs is requesting the temporary placement of two RV trailers to bridge the gap between demolition and construction of the new building. The trailers will provide immediate additional space that can be used after the current building is demolished but before the new building is completed. The trailers would stay in place for six to twelve months depending on the construction schedule. They are expanding and growing and would like permission to move forward with this proposal

Commissioner Kussard asked when the church plans on tearing down the existing building.

Reverend Ron Richardson - Ocala

Mr. Richardson responded that the plans are currently with the architects and once the design is complete it will be resubmitted to the Town. The RV’s will be placed on the property prior to demolition to provide more space for the children. After demolition, the RV’s will serve as their sole space prior to completion of the new building.

Commissioner Freeman asked about the appearance of the RV’s. Mr. Richardson said they will be rewrapping them with their own branding to match their signage.

Commissioner Kussard asked what they will do with the trailers once they do not need them anymore. Mr. Richardson said they will be used at another facility or will be sold to another church.

Commissioner Kussard made a motion to approve the Conditional Use Permit Proposal for Church at the Springs; Commissioner Holden seconded the motion. The motion passed by a vote of 5-0.
